Restaurant Review

I went to Yayoiken, a famous Japanese restaurant with Risa.
Actually, we chose the other restaurant but the restaurant was closed at that time so we chose this convenient restaurant.

There is Yayoiken on the basement of a building, OVAL PLAZA which is located in front of Aoyama Gakuin University and it takes about just five minutes from our university to get to there so it is very easy to access.

Yayoiken is Japanese franchise restaurant which serves Japanese healthy food and you can eat balanced meals at this restaurant.

This restaurant is very popular among overseas.

You can find this restaurant in Thailand, Singapore, Australia, and Taiwan.

Mainly, there are three types of the dishes: Fish, Meat and Don.

Until 11:00 AM, you can choose breakfast menu. It is very healthy and reasonable.

You order the dishes from the small tablet on the table. We do not have to call waitress. There is also English menu and it is very easy to order for everyone.

One of the attractive points is that you can eat rice as much as you want.

It took just 10-15 minutes to be served dishes.

I ordered Misokatsuni Teisyoku. It is 720 yen (included tax).

Misokatsuni, Hiyayakko, Miso soup and Rice.

It looked like frozen food but it tastes really good.

Miso was very tasty and I liked Hiyayakko.

Risa ordered Chicken Nanban Teisyoku. It is 720 yen (included tax).

Chicken Nanban, Salad, Hiyayakko, Miso soup and Rice.

She said she ordered this dish last time too.

I found many customers came here by themselves.

There are a lot of single seats and it is easy to visit by oneself.

Atmosphere in the restaurant was quiet and calm.

The light in the restaurant was appropriate and floors are so clean.

However, the service staff was not so cheerful. When we enter the restaurant, they did not greet and they behaved like a robot.

Still I recommend this restaurant because you can eat healthy Japanese food by cheap price :)

Genre Analysis

Happy New Year :) ♪
How was the New Year's day?
I spent time with my friends at Tokyo Disney Land.
We celebrated New Year with Micky mouse and we enjoyed the fire works.
It was awesome!!
I wish this year will be the happiest and best for you :))

The article that my partner and I was given called "Bubba Gump Shirm Co, restaurant review: A cavernous, deep-fried, hokey simulacrum"
http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/food-and-drink/reviews/bubba-gump-shrimp-co-restaurant-review-a-cavernous-deepfried-hokey-simulacrum-9901411.html

*What additional information can you find out about the restaurant from its Website?
I found there are this restaurant's branches around the world (of course Japan too). And in this restaurant there are quiz time while eating and waiters enlivening the atomosphere. Since there is souvenir shop, people can buy original goods in this restaurant.

*What did you learn about the values of the reviewer and cultural values through this review?
I thought the reviewer is very unique because he made a place for break up a criterion. People usually judge the restaurant by its cleanness, food, or the attitude of waitress so I thought unique criteria makes review more interesting.

*Based on the review, would you like to try this restaurant?
I've never watched the movie, Forrest Gump but I'm very interested in the restaurant that was made by the image of the movie. This restaurant is expensive but I think we can enjoy with friends. This place is very good for the child's party as the reviewer said. The reviewer criticized this restaurant but I want to judge for myself.

The video that my partner and I were given to evaluate on is called "Omaha Restaurant Spoofs Negative Yelp Reviews"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6cXJf3aVUQ

*Is the review neutral or partisan?
This review is neutral. The video introduced the good point and bad point of this restaurant fairly.
Owners, chefs and managers accept the bad review positively so I didn't feel this situation is serious.

*What is revealed about the reviewer and the culture?
These days people can criticize and see criticism easily on the internet like Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube. And some people like negative review. So I thought people should not believe bad reviews easily and examine closely.

*Notice whether the voices of the speakers are monotonous or have a pleasing emphasis on certain words and phrases.
How does that affect your understanding and enjoyment of it?
They speak little bit fast for me and it was difficult to understand whole story but they looked like they're having fun talking. The speakers were sometimes monotonous and sometimes her voice was modulated.

Food Book

Today, I introduce the book which I chose in the class.

Religious Vegetarianism from Hesiod to the Dalai Lama
Edited by Kerry S. Walters and Lisa Portmess
Published by State University of New York Press in 2001

This is a book about vegetarianism. In Japan, there are few vegetarian and we are not so familiar with this topic but some of my foreign friends are vegetarian. I want to know why they stopped eating meat and whether this eating habit is good for health or not. In this book, author consider about vegetarianism in terms of religious. It's very interesting!! I think this book makes me deep think about the life of foods.
